This image was processed using HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging and luminosity mask blending, allowing for a balanced exposure across the entire lunar surface. Bright regions, such as the rugged highlands and crater rims, were carefully preserved without overexposure, while the darker maria (lunar seas) retained their delicate textures and subtle shading. HDR imaging was achieved by combining multiple exposures of varying lengths, ensuring both the brightest and dimmest areas were captured in detail. Luminosity mask blending was then used to seamlessly merge these exposures, enhancing contrast while maintaining a natural and realistic appearance. This technique helps to reveal the Moon’s striking topography, from the tiniest craters to vast basaltic plains, offering a glimpse into its rich geological history.

This mineral Moon mosaic highlights the vast Mare Imbrium impact basin and its dramatic mountain ranges. At the lower left, the bright crater Copernicus spreads its rays across the basaltic plains. To the east, the Montes Apenninus rise sharply, continuing north into the Montes Caucasus and Montes Alpes. Cutting across the Alps, the Vallis Alpes forms one of the Moon’s most striking linear features, while at the top, the dark-floored crater Plato stands in contrast to the surrounding highlands.
Enhanced colors reveal the Moon’s hidden mineral diversity: bluish tones mark titanium-rich lavas, reddish hues indicate iron-rich flows, and bright rays trace the ejecta of younger impacts. A geological canvas telling the story of volcanic eruptions and cosmic collisions across billions of years.

Lunar Transit – International Space Station
On August 18, 2025 at 12:13 CEST, I captured the International Space Station as it crossed the lunar disk from Val Brembana, Italian Alps. The entire event lasted less than a second, yet the ISS — orbiting at about 400 km altitude and traveling at 28,000 km/h — revealed its distinctive structure and solar panels silhouetted against the Moon.
This particular pass offered ideal conditions: the centerline of the transit was just 570 km from my observing site, providing an exceptionally sharp and detailed view. A fleeting encounter between cutting-edge human engineering and the ancient, silent lunar landscape.

Solar Transit – International Space Station
After months of preparation, the perfect conditions finally aligned to capture the International Space Station crossing the face of the Sun — a brief but spectacular moment that lasted less than a second.
The ISS was orbiting at an altitude of approximately 534 km, and thanks to a fast burst of frames, its distinctive shape is clearly visible against the solar disk.
This image was carefully planned using specialized prediction tools to calculate the exact transit path and timing — a perfect blend of astronomy and precision.
